About Us

Welcome to the Applied Imagery web site, home of the Quick Terrain Modeler and Quick Terrain Reader. Thank you for your interest in our software and our company.

Our goal at Applied Imagery is to deliver powerful 3-D visualization and exploitation tools to professionals who work with LiDAR, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), or any source of 3-D terrain or point information. Our customers use our software for applications ranging from defense, hydrology, urban planning, transportation, coastal mapping, and bathymetry to basic research and GIS. Regardless of their specific area of expertise, Applied Imagery's customers rely on our software to visualize their enormous 3-D data sets, perform Quality Assurance (QA), integrate diverse data types, perform critical analysis, and send their products to other downstream users and applications. We continue to refine our core product by listening to feedback from our defense, government, commercial, and academic customers and partners. We welcome your suggestions.

Since the Quick Terrain Modeler Quick Terrain Reader were developed specifically for airborne LiDAR and 3-D terrain visualization, they are uniquely suited to addressing their challenges: the enormous file size of the surveys (both points and surfaces), the time it takes to build and view models, the need to distribute geospatial models to a broad array of users, the need for absolute accuracy, and the cost of high performance hardware and software.

Applied Imagery's tools address all of these challenges because they are:

Powerful:   Fast:
Builds surface models up to 200 million vertices.   Generates new models in minutes.
Builds point clouds up to 200 million points.   Loads existing models in seconds.
Data thinning and decimation tools build models from unlimited size source data sets.   Navigates through large models in real time - no thinning required.
Analysis results can be seen very quickly in 3-D.   Provides ground truth QA/QC results instantly.

Versatile:   Economical:

Visualizes points and surfaces simultaneously.

Short learning curve - easy to use.
Imports and exports the most common data formats.   Requires no underlying CAD or GIS software.
Bridges the gap between LiDAR and GIS.   Runs on standard off-the-shelf PC hardware.
Includes powerful analysis, measurement and customization tools.   Free Quick Terrain Reader enables distribution of modeling results.
